Fundanga Tips Govt on Diversification

By Mary Kachepa- Institute of Finance and Economics President Caleb Fundanga says as Zambia plans to diversify its economy, it is important to identify ready markets.Dr Fundanga was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on ZNBC Director General Richard Mwanza and ZNBC Management to discuss possible partnership with the Institute.Dr Fundanga, who is also Former Bank of Zambia Governor, said his institute will hold a conference on diversifying the Zambian economy in conjunction with the French Zambia Chamber of Commerce.He said the conference is meant to see how some foreign companies in Zambia can help Zambia identify ready markets in their countries.Dr Fundanga said ZNBC is key in ensuring that the right information on the economy is disseminated to the public.Meanwhile, ZNBC Director General Richard Mwanza said the meeting was timely because as ZNBC is looking for credible sources to provide information on issues affecting the economy.Mr Mwanza said ZNBC’s ability to broadcast in seven local languages ensures that messages reach million viewers.And ZNBC Director of Programmes, Rose Chumpuka hopes that through ZNBC platforms many finance and economic initiatives that the country has will be spread to the world.Speaking at the same event, ZNBC Director News and Current Affairs Oswald Mutale said the corporation stands ready to promote the work of Institute of Finance and Economics as it delivers its mandate.
