I’m focused to win fight against poverty, HH assures Lufwanyama residents
UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has assured the people of Mibenge area in Lufwanyama on the Copperbelt that he is 100% focused on winning the fight against poverty in Zambia.
Speaking at a public rally this afternoon Mr. Hichilema bemoaned the unprecedented high levels of poverty in the country, especially in rural areas.
He commented: “Copperbelt province should be a hub of both industrial and agriculture activities in the country and the region beyond, but these sectors have not been fully exploited under the PF due to poor quality leadership. We need to fix this.”
Mr. Hichilema says that under the UPND 10 Point Plan he will ensure that the untapped potential in agriculture in Copperbelt rural is fully realised so as to lower the price of mealie meal and other essentials.
Meanwhile, UPND Copperbelt Province Chairperson Elisha Matambo added that due to the high poverty levels in Copperbelt rural people are finding it hard to keep their children in school.
He added that people in the area are expecting that once elected as republican president, Mr. Hichilema will stabilise the country’s economy through delivery of the 10 Point Plan.
Mr. Hichilema has begun holding public rallies on the Copperbelt, with the first one held at Mibenge school grounds. Hundreds of Lufwanyama residents turned out to listen to his message of hope and economic liberation.
