Mulenga Sata files in for Kabwata, confident of winning
UPND Kabwata parliamentary candidate Mulenga Sata has successfully filed in his nomination before Returning Officer Grace Kanjata.
Mulenga filed in his nomination at 4pm from St Patrick School in Lusaka.
Speaking after filing in, Mulenga expressed confidence of winning the seat. He said the UPND popularity has grown.
Mulenga who stood on PF ticket in 2001 against Given Lubinda then on UPND said the race will be interesting.
He said the father never wanted him to be his shadow. He said Michael Sata at the age of 19 told him to do what he believes in.
Mulenga said there was no sinister of him standing against a party founded by his father. He cited Panji Kaunda of PF, Patrick Mwanawasa and Andrew Banda as some of the sons of the former presidents who not members of their father’s party.
On earlier being returned by ECZ because one documents was missing, Mulenga said he never planned to contest so had not carried one of the required documents.
Mulenga was accompanied by former Kafue MP Obvious Mwaliteta and dozens of UPND supporters.
