20 FAMILIES HOMELESS

By Jane Simalumba:Over 20 families of Kafue Hippo-Pool area in Chingola district on the Copperbelt province have been left homeless after their houses collapsed due to the heavy rains experienced this week.A check by Chingola District Commissioner, Mary Chibesa found several houses had collapsed while others have developed deep cracks and are on the verge of collapsing.Ms. Chibesa has since appealed to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- to quickly come to the aid of the affected families.She has assured the victims that government will do everything possible to ensure help is rendered.And one of the victims Mary Bwalya said her family is spending sleepless nights in the cold.
