18 Somalis Perish In Human Trafficking Mission Gone Wrong
The death toll in the Somalis who died along the pedicle road from suffocation has been pegged at 18.
A truck laden with fish suspected to have come from Kasama had 55 suspected illegal immigrants that had 18 dying from suffocation along the way five kilometres into the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Northern Province police commissioner Hudson Namachila said the Congolese authorities intercepted the truck belonging to BM Motors following banging from seemingly distressing passengers.
The bodies of the deceased have yet to be to be picked from the roadside while the driver of the truck from Ndola’s Masala area has been detained.
News of the deaths has taken social media by storm with images being circulated.
