UNZA re-opens, students lament ban on squatting

UNZASU EXUniversity of Zambia (UNZA) students have lamented management’s decision to ban squatting without providing an alternative to the accommodation challenges at the institution.

The institution has reopened after over six months of closure.

A check at the institution by a QTV News crew found a fair number of students had returned, but most complained over the lack accommodation.

Some students talked to say the prolonged closure of the institution coupled with the ban on squatting will affect their academic performance as most of them are now having to look around for boarding housing.

The students most of whom are in their third year of studying have called on government to pay them their allowances on time so that they can use some of it to pay for their accommodation outside the campus and for transportation to and from campus.
