THE Botswana camp has enabled us to get to know our new colleagues who joined us from different clubs as we prepare for the CAF Confederations cup tournament, Green Buffaloes defender Malani Gondwe has said.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Nation sports from Botswana, Gondwe said that the Botswana tour has enabled players to get ready for the CAF tournament and the local league.

Gondwe who has scored two goals in two friendly fixtures in Botswana added that the team was determined to record success in both the CAF confederations cup, the Barclays cup and the local league which is scheduled to kick off in May.

“This year is our year. We are going to do it. Our goal is to be successful in the CAF confederations cup and to win both the Barclays cup and the local league.

“We have a capable squad which will compete in the 2018 soccer season. We have been joined by a few new players who have added a lot of value to the team because their performance has been wonderful,” Gondwe said.

Former Napsa Stars midfielder, Youremember Banda, Eddie Sinyagwe from Lumwana Radiants, Sporting Lusaka’s Lazarous Muchinga and former Kabwe Warriors’ player Monga Chilimba all made their debut for Buffaloes in Botswana.

The three-time Zambian champions are currently camping in Botswana as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2018 Super League season.

“We have played two games so far and have recorded one draw and one win. Setting up camp here has helped us to know and understand each other as players and by the time our stay here comes to an end, we will be ready to take on any team,” Gondwe said.

The Army sponsored-side qualified for the CAF Confederations cup after finishing the MTN/FAZ Super league on fourth position with 70 points, four points behind eventual league winners Zesco United.

The Bilton Musonda led Green Buffaloes will next month travel to Egypt for a date with El Masry FC in the two team’s first leg fixture to be played at Port Said Stadium.
