Movement for National Transformation (MNT) has commended Government’s efforts in formulating and enacting a drafted bill to be tabled before parliament.
The Party however hopes this is not the ploy to fix the opposition in the country.
MNT Founding president Daniel Shimunza said in a statement that so far as political parties are concerned and as they await further enlightenment on the purported debates, they seek to advance the following observations in this regard considering Part V 60 (a-e) of provisions in the amended constitution of 2016.
That the said Part V of the constitution established to provide management of political parties’ funds with seats in parliament is a welcome effor, adding that the same Part V provides for audited accounts for political parties.
Shimunza said the ruling party will show the model of the requirement of disclosures of party financing and sources of funding
“The complaints forwarded concerning ZIALE be looked into seriously. Furthermore, the bill must be considerate of all Stakeholders in so far as disclosures, transparency and accountability is concerned,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Shimunza has advised the Ministry to consider re-defining the roles of Opposition political parties without seats in parliament being involved in the entire process bearing in mind that they may be in government tomorrow and have members in parliament.
