A Livingstone Highway Patrol officer in President Edgar Lungu’s motorcade was injured in a crash while coming back from the airport where he went to escort the president this morning.
A motorcycle officer went down around 8 am. The officer was taken to a local hospital, but was said to be okay. Further details regarding the crash were not released.
An Eyewitness captured part of the crash on cellphone camera.
The Zambia police said they were investigating what caused the officer to crash.
This comes bearly a week after a vehicle on the presidential convoy crushed along Great North Road.
President Lungu is on a two-day-visit of Southern province. He arrived on Thursday and warned that if violence continues in some parts of the country he will be forced to declare a state of emergency.
