TIZ tips government
Transparency International Zambia President Reuben Lifuka says government should realize that any affront on the promotion of good governance and democracy in the country has the potential to reflect negatively on the country’s corruption perception index.
Mr. Lifuka says every wrong action that government takes has the potential to affect the way the country is perceived in the area of good governance and transparency.
He stresses that investigating and prosecuting people is not the only way to climb up the ladder of the corruption perception index.
He adds that government should realize that when the corruption perception index of a country like Zambia declines, it has implications on the country’s attractiveness to foreign investment.
Mr Lifuka further states that some of the government’s actions and decision affects the country’s human rights perception, adding that for as long as government does not uphold good governance and democracy; it will not appreciate the human rights of citizens.
He has since urged government to be more tolerant of divergent views and not suppress those who criticize or do not support its policies.
