‘Arresting of pf youths, a sign of desperation by govt.’ – PF.
Copperbelt Province Patriotic Front Youth Chairman Manyani Zulu has charged that the arrest of suspected PF youths in Kitwe yesterday in connection with the riot is a sign of desperation on the part of the Government.
A PF councilor Elias Kamanga was yesterday arrested together with 24 others after a riot that broke up following the release on bail of Change Life Zambia Executive Director Fr Frank Bwalya.
Mr Zulu told QFM that it is sad that whenever there is violence on the political scene it is being attributed to the youth from the opposition parties.
He also bemoans that the country’s laws are now being applied on Zambians selectively.
He says MMD cadres are being shielded by police whenever they are involved in violent acts citing the harassment of journalists and threats to gang rape FDD leader Edith Nawakwi.
Mr Zulu said it is unfair to arrest the youth who were peaceful and were merely provoked by the police.
