President Rupiah Banda, this morning left for Malawi for
urgent consultative talks with his counterpart, Bingu Wa Mutharika.
President Banda is chairperson of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region while Dr. Wa Mutharika is chairperson for the African Union (AU).
Mr. Banda left Lusaka at 09:30 hours and is accompanied to Malawi by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kabinga Pande, his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, Dickson Jere and other government officials.
He was seen off by Vice President, George Kunda, Minister of Defence Kalombo Mwansa, Lusaka Province Minister Charles Shawa, defence and service chiefs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.
President Banda and his delegation are expected to return home at 14:00hours today.
