The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set 29th April 2010 as the date for the Milanzi parliamentary by-election and local government by-elections in eight council wards.
The Milanzi parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of area Member of Parliament Rueben Chisanga Banda last month.
In a statement released to QFM today, ECZ Public Relations Manager Cris Akufuna says aspiring candidates in the by-elections should lodge completed and attested statutory declaration and nomination papers subscribed before recommended officials on Thursday,8th April,2010 between 09:00 hours and 15:00 hours.
He says aspiring candidates for the Milanzi Parliamentary seat should take with them nine supporters who should be registered voters in Milanzi constituency, who should have in their possession their green national registration cards and voters cards.
Mr Akufuna says aspiring candidates will be required to pay k500,000 non-refundable fee,while candidates aspiring in the local government by-elections will be required to pay k50,000 and k75,000 for district and municipal councils respectively.
The wards were by-elections will be held are Lumumba in Luanshya,Lufubu in Kawambwa,Chiloba and Kanana both in Chilubi,Dengwe and Kamakechi both in Kasempa,Shilenda in Solwezi and Siampande in Gwembe.
