Tourism and Arts Minister, Charles Banda has noted the need for cultural exchanges to develop the Zambian culture and artistic ideas.
Speaking when Italian Ambassador to Zambia, Filippo Scammacca paid a courtesy call on him at his office, the Minister said it is through such exchanges that Zambia will be able to learn and choose what best suits them and grow it to better heights.
Mr. Banda said there is greater need for artists’ international exposure so that they can grow their talents.
The Minister said when the local artists get the international exposure they will do more than they are doing.
And Ambassador Scammacca said he has been working with other diplomats from other missions to engage local and international artists to connect Zambian artists to international networks.
He said Zambia does not have any major international cultural event like other countries and hence the need to promote the upcoming Artists Festival slated for May 7, 2019.
Mr Scammecca called for political will to support the event that will bring together talent in visual arts, theatre, and poetry, cinema and fashion attractions.
