Bodies of Lake Mweru fishermen not yet retrieved- Police

The bodies of two fishermen who drowned in Lake Mweru in Nchelenge district after their boat capsized over the weekend have still noted been recovered.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says the two together with one survivor of the incident went fishing on 7th July around 06:00 hours when their boat capsized due to strong winds.

She has identified the deceased whose bodies have not yet been retrieved aas John Nyemba aged 17 and Godfrey Kabo aged 23,both of Kasheta village,Chief Kambwali of Nchelenge district.

Ms Katongo has also identified the survivor who was rescued by other fishermen as Shack Chola.

Meanwhile Ms Katongo has called on members of the public to help police in identifying criminal gang members especially those involving young children.

She says it will be difficult for police to combat crime without cooperation from member of the public.

This follows the release from police detention of youths alleged to be members of a group called the Fluffy boys who have been terrorizing residents of Mtendere township in Lusaka after members of the public failed to go to the police station to identify them.
