Love-40 donates tennis stringing machine to Mufulira

United States based former Zambia tennis player and now Love-40 tennis programme foundation president Sydney Bwalya has announced the donation of the stringing machine to the Mufulira tennis club youth programme. Bwalya who was in the country for the past two weeks arrived in Dallas, Texas yesterday.

“I am thrilled and encouraged with the progress that I saw while in Mufulira. The donation of the stringing machine will certainly go a long way in alleviating the cost that goes along with stringing the rackets currently used by kids in the programme” Bwalya said.

The $400.00 Gamma X-6 stringing machine is scheduled to arrive in the country soon.

Bwalya also witnessed the third Love-40 sponsored junior tournament that was hosted by Mufulira tennis club on September 3rd. Abraham Mwale of Lusaka won the boys 18 and under while Barnabas Kalaba also of Lusaka emerged as a runners up. Mufulira female player Angela Mwansa got second place in the girls 18 and under and Mwaza Ngulube was an eventual winner. Natasha Chewe of Mufulira got first place in the girls 12 and under while her club mate Favourity Chabu got second.
Bwalya was impressed with the number of kids who showed up at the tournament and more importantly the number of kids from Mufulira tennis club who participated.

“It was really amazing and gratifying to see more and more kids from Love-40 programme participating in the tournament” Bwalya said

Bwalya recognized the two tennis coaches in the name of Emmanuel Chewe and Lighton Ndefwayi for spearheading the Love-40 youth programme. He also paid a tribute to the Mufulira tennis club executive and the Mopani Copper Mines management for teaming up with Love-40.

“Mopani Copper Mines has certainly helped Mufulira tennis club and Love-40 programme start looking better and together we will strive to continue making it bigger, this programme is definitely a great benefit for the kids and the Mufulira community” Bwalya said

Seventy two total junior  players from all of the country participated in the tournament. Prizes for the winners and meals for all participants and officials were sponsored by Love-40.
