The opposition United Party for National Development says it will use Parallel Vote Tabulation in the August 11.
Party spokesperson Charles Kakoma said the party would use PVT as part of what they are calling vote protection.
Kakoma said that party had information that the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) will switch off communication devices during the voting and counting period.
“We are going to use several measures in vote protection and PVT is one of them. We are going to have PVT,” he said.
“We hear government is going to put up several measures that ZICTA wants to switch off telecommunication during voting and counting.”
The UPND and PF have been playing cat and mouse over the August 11 elections that will bring them head to head as they are seen as lead contenders.
